Instead of resting, she decided to play mobile games during her free day.

Don’t you just love a movie or two before sleeping? Or was there ever a time when sleep does not visit you and you tap on that gadget you’re holding? Apparently, it is bad for the body. The fact alone that we use our tablets for several hours in a day, makes us exposed to the light our gadget emits. Ultraviolet light or UV light is harmful to the eye and may contribute to macular degeneration.

21-year-old Xiao Wu woman from Dongguan, China, got to spend a whole day at home during China’s Golden Week Holiday, and chose to play with her cell phone during her free time. Wu spent her time in King of Glory marathon for almost the entire day without even resting.

Then on October 1st, Wu noticed that she could no longer see using her right eye. Thinking that her eye was just tired, she decided to sleep it off. However, her right eye never regained sight the next day. This prompted her parents to bring her to the Donggiang Huaxia Eye Hospital.

Retinal Artery Occlusion usually happens in older patients but in Wu’s case, her eyes were extremely tired by constantly staring into the small smartphone screen.

According to a report by buzzflare, Wu usually plays on her phone for seven or eight hours straight, without any breaks. In addition to that, she also works in finance which adds more pressure on her eyes. During her days off, she wakes up at 6 am and has her breakfast and she would start playing until 4 pm.
