One of the most heartbreaking things that could happen to any parent is to find their children harmed by the people they trust. For mother Christina, it pained her to see that her 9-year-old daughter Danica Santos was found dead in Dinalupihan, Bataan last Tuesday.

After going missing for a few days, Danica was discovered lying face down on a canal with a wound on her head, her clothes disheveled and underwear askew. Her lifeless body was retrieved from a yard, only a block away from where she lived.

The victim was spotted last Sunday, October 1, after her uncle sent her out to buy chewing gum from a sari-sari store. However, she didn’t come back after. This prompted her family to search for her and put up ‘Missing’ posters of Danica.

Her uncle, Leonardo Aquino, was arrested for being the primary suspect. According to witnesses, Leonardo was the last person seen with Danica.

In the GMA News report, the autopsy on the victim’s body revealed that she was s**ually abused and died via strangulation. Based on the investigation, Danica was killed in another place, and not where she was found.

Behind bars, he could only ask forgiveness from the victim’s family. “Humihingi ako ng kapatawaran sa kasalanan ko…kundi man wala akong magagawa,” he told GMA 7 Reporter Saleema Refran.

On the other hand, Danica’s mother, Christina Santos, was livid with anger. “Ginawa mong baboy! Wala kang konsensya!” she tearfully said during the interview with GMA News TV.
