Recently, an enormous mammal was found on the English Coast. Residents were stunned to see such giant animal stranded on the North Devon Heritage Coast in England last March 8 at around 4 in the afternoon.
The manager of Hartland Quay Hotel and Pub, Sarah Stafford reported the incident to the government on their specialist whale and dolphin hotline. Everyone has been advised to stay away from the huge carcass to avoid any hazardous incidents. The corpse was identified as the second largest living animal, the Fin Whale, measuring approximately 33 feet or 10 meters long. According to NTD.TV, it is comparable to a double-decker bus.
Based on their observation, it seems like the Fin Whale has been dead for quite some time. The British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) representative Stephen Marsh said that are not sure on where exactly the whale came from. “We don’t know where it came from; it could have washed up anywhere. The majority of these animals die at sea and we never see them,” Marsh explained.
A spokesperson from the Whale and Dolphin Conservation UK mentioned to Metro.co.uk, “Its death could have been caused by old age or disease, but whales and dolphins face many man-made threats too, such as collision with vessels, entanglement in fishing nets, pollution etc.”
According to research, Fin Whales can grow up to 88 feet long and weigh up to 130,000 kilograms. In a recent report by The Post, the carcass has been removed from the coast by contractors without any damage occurred.
May this incident serves as a wake-up call to everyone who’d been abusive to our nature. We have to keep in mind that every action comes with great responsibility. As humans, we are expected to watch over the environment and other living creatures on our planet.
