Early morning commutes can bring so many surprises to commuters and passengers. But this particular incident takes the cake when a pregnant woman had to give birth inside a public utility vehicle. She went into labor and while a lot of people were panicked, a 4th year nursing student from Bicol University went in and saved the day.
This nursing student was identified to be JM Cabarle and fellow passenger Amy Bacares shared what happened on her Facebook account. Amy said that all the other people in the PUV were too scared and panicked to do anything. But luckily JM was steady and ready to help, proving that her studies from Bicol University are paying off.
“Kudos to this 4th year nursing student ‘JM’ of Bicol University for your courage. With your help and alertness we survived the agonizing moment when all we did was to panic and cry,” Amy said.
Remelyn Frondoso was the pregnant woman who gave birth in the van. While Remelyn’s screams from labor pain paralyzed other passengers, JM bravely did what she could do. Probably remembering all the things she was taught, the nursing student helped Frondoso safely deliver her baby even in the unfavorable location.
“You’re worthy to be called a nurse someday Miss JM for helping this mother in birthing her healthy baby girl at 6:45 a.m. inside a public utility van,” said a Facebook user who chanced upon the story.
JM received applause once they heard the cries of the newborn baby. While it was really unexpected and such an intense moment for 6:45 in the morning, JM went into nurse mode and did an amazing job. She is ready to be on duty in a hospital.
What can you say about JM’s heroic actions? What would you have done if you were in the same PUV as all of them? Would you have panicked or would you have assisted JM in her mission to get the baby delivered safely? Share your thoughts and reactions in the comments section below!
