Congresswoman Lucy Torres expressed her gratitude to Presidenr Rodrigo Duterte after he made several visits to calamity-struck Ormoc City, Kananga when it was affected by a great earthquake .
Torres reported that Duterte and Presidential Assistant from Visayas Mike Dino surveyed the damage in Ormoc through aerial and ground inspection.
The immediate needs of the survivors were quickly addressed by then. Duterte would return three days later with all his Cabinet Secretaries for a meeting with Ormoc City officials.
A week after the earthquake hit, Duterte once again met with officials to provide robust and long-term solutions to the damage.
Rebuilding is currently ongoing and Torres is grateful for having such speeedy and personal response from Duterte.
In her full post on Facebook as shared by Sass Sasot in her page, Torres said,
“CONGRESSWOMAN LUCY TORRES:
A day after the horrid earthquake that struck Ormoc City, Kananga, and other parts of Leyte, the President sent a team led by Presidential Assistant for Visayas Affairs Mike Dino and the military for an aerial inspection and rapid assessment of immediate needs on the ground. Three days later, the President’s men — practically all the Cabinet Secretaries and some of their undersecretaries — descended in full force, and a productive cabinet meeting that lasted over 3 hours was held at the Ormoc City Hall. After three more days or exactly a week after the earthquake, the President himself, Pres.-Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte, arrived in Ormoc, again with his entire cabinet with him, for yet another meeting. This time, problems were not only discussed extensively but more importantly, immediate and lasting solutions laid out and promised. As I post this allow me to share that, true to his word, rebuilding efforts have already been officially rolled out, with more in the pipeline to commence ASAP.
Thank you, Mr. President, for your compassion and extremely quick action. Your actual presence during that difficult time brought us, the people of Ormoc and Kananga especially, a great measure of comfort and hope. Rebuilding is a gargantuan task that needs government intervention and we are grateful for your leadership. To quote Sec. Art Tugade, your marching instructions were ‘pakinggan at tugunan’. You and your cabinet have done/are doing exactly that. Thank you for your sincerity. Thank you for your commitment.
Mabuhay, Mr. President! May God bless you and grant you wisdom and strength and good health as you continue to lead our great country.??”
