Following the Department of Justice‘s announcement to acquit actor and TV host Vhong Navarro from r*pe charges, complainant Deniece Cornejo turned to social media to express her sentiments. On September 24, Sunday, the model-stylist posted a cryptic message on her official Facebook account.
According to a report published by PEP.ph, Cornejo posted a photo of herself on Facebook where she was seen inside a plane and gazing out the window. But this particular photo is not the only thing that caught the netizens’ attention. What baffled people online is her cryptic Facebook status. On her caption, it says:
“Mom is right. It takes forever to fight but it will be worth it. Fight isn’t over. Stand still.”
As of writing this article, Deniece Cornejo deleted the cryptic message following the public backlash. Her mysterious caption sparked the curiosity of netizens on social media. Many speculations and rumors spread all over like wildfire, but the most significant explanation people thought was that Cornejo’s statement pertained to Vhong Navarro’s acquisition.
Back in 2014, Deniece Cornejo filed two consecutive cases of r*pe charges against Navarro. She claimed that she was s*xually abused by the host on the night of January 17 and 22, 2014. On that very same night Navarro was mauled by a group of men led by Cedric Lee, who was believed to be Cornejo’s lover at the time.
After three years in court, the Department of Justice finally reached a conclusion on September 6, 2017. OIC Prosecutor General Severino Gaña expressed that they have thoroughly reviewed the case, but found no concrete evidence whatsoever to indict Navarro of these scandalous r*pe allegations.
“To be sure, the voluminous records of this case was scrutinized vis-à-vis the original resolution finding probable cause. However, such thorough scrutiny has failed to make us engender a well-founded belief that the rape and attempted rape described by the complainant actually happened.”
In the review resolution, DOJ also stated that Cornejo’s chain of events had too many inconsistencies, even going as far as saying that the actress “suffers from a very serious credibility issue.”
Could Deniece Cornejo’s cryptic message mean that she plans to pursue another case against Navarro? What do you think? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below. For more updates on this story, stay tuned to our website.
