The baby’s mom broke down in tears after seeing her daughter being manhandled in such manner.
For some households, both parents need to work for the survival and betterment of the family. Sometimes, the father’s job is not enough to sustain the needs and wants of a growing family. With this at hand, sacrifices need to be made.
Parents would have to hire nannies and babysitters to take care of their children in the meantime. Of course, they should thoroughly take note of the nanny’s background before accepting his/her application. But as the saying goes: You will never really KNOW a person unless you let them into your home.
Mum Annemarie Theron had suspicions when she noticed bruises on her baby Laila’s body. Laila had bruises on her neck, shoulders and under her feet—prompting the mother to install cameras around the house. What they saw in the footage shattered their lives.
Footage captured at Theron’s home in Namibia appears to show the family’s nanny manhandling the tot, and even tossing her into her cot like a rag doll.
Devastated mum Annemarie said: “I decided to install cameras, so that I could see what was happening when I’m not at home.
“It was very emotional watching it. I refused to sleep, eat or drink for a couple of days afterward.
“It’s difficult to imagine how long this has been going on for. I can see Laila is so, so broken after everything.”
Annemarie and her husband Johan informed police as soon as they saw the heartbreaking footage.
“The police were initially hesitant about the charges but wanted to arrest the woman immediately after seeing the footage,” Annemarie said.
In a post on Facebook, Annemarie apologised to her infant daughter and thanked well-wishers for their support.
“My precious baby Laila Danae please know we love you endlessly and we are SO so sorry for what you have been through,” she wrote.
“We thank the Lord for his protection and faithfulness, that you are still alive and still such a shining ray of light to so many people.”
The baby’s nanny is facing charges of attempted murder.
