MANILA, Philippines– In an ambush interview with the press, President Rodrigo Duterte slammed Senator Antonio Trillanes by calling him “dedicated to ignorance” and “political ISIS” after the latter continued to fling accusations towards presidential son and Davao Vice Mayor Paulo Duterte.
The irate president clapped back to the senator during the 41st birthday celebration of Davao City Representative Karlo Nograles on Sunday, September 3.
“Si Trillanes iyong political ISIS. Walang alam, basta gusto lang bira nang bira. Akala niya tama siya. Ang nakakatawa dyan, when he talks, it’s as if talagang alam niya ang batas.”
Trillanes has been insisting that Paulo Duterte and husband of Davao City Mayor Sarah Duterte, Atty. Manse Carpio’s involvement in the controversial P6.4B drug shipment from China despite of the consistent lack of evidence. Paulo Duterte has firmly denied the allegations.
Carpio renounced the senator’s accusations and called him a ““rumormonger who happens to be a senator.”
The president also told the press that he advised his son to attend the hearing in court. Meanwhile, he further told Trillanes to keep his mouth shut.
“So if you want evidence, Mr. Trililing [sic], do not get it from the mouth of other people, go somewhere else. Kung iyong tinitira gusto mo ring ipitin, hindi ka abugado hindi ka marunong niyan. Ang sagot sa’yo, ‘I refuse to answer your question because you intend to incriminate me.’ You have already assumed I am guilty so what’s the point of answering it?”
It appears that Trillanes has been stepping on a lot of important toes lately. On Saturday, Trillanes was also involved in a heated argument with Senator Richard ‘Dick’ Gordon.
During the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee last week, Trillanes criticized the committee for failing to summon Paolo and President’s son in law, Carpio. Both Carpio and Duterte were pointed out by a witness in the controversial issue.

His insistence earned him a few taunts from Gordon, who called him “out of order” and also threatened to file an ethics case against Trillanes.
