President Rodrigo Duterte is tired of parrying attacks by Senator Antonio Trillanes’ attacks against him and his family sinca last year’s campaign.
This time, Duterte is going on attack mode after building up an arsenal of corruption charges against Trillanes.
Duterte is claiming that Trillanes has dozens of joint accounts with multiple Chinese co-depositors in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Australia, and the United States.
Duterte is also reviving corruption charges raised two years ago by then Vice President Jojo Binay (who was also a target of Trillanes corruption probe) against Trillanes who allegedly hired consultants, including his brother, with an annual fee of half a million pesos each.
Duterte claimed Trillanes has more than 200 consultants or more than the 55 Binay claimed Trillanes had in 2015.
Duterte is also bringing out claims that Trillans used his allocation from the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) for a ghost lamp project
“May kaso siya sa DAP. Abogado ako, just looking at it. Inubos niya sa pamigay and he will have to answer also,” said Duterte in a media interview Saturday in Cagayan de Oro.
But unlike Trillanes’ “garbage”, Duterte said his charges against the Magdalo leader were well-documented.
“Nandiyan ako sa gobyerno eh. So bakit ko kailangan ng basura?” said Duterte.
“All we have to do is to get the goods on him but… matagal na ‘yan hawak ko,” he added.
Duterte said he could not just lie down and let Trillanes annihilate him and his family.
“But you know, medyo sumosobra na kasi,Tapos na ‘yung kampanya, and when I thought all the while na ganoon talaga politika. Pero ito, he is bent on destroying me. So I destroy him or he will destroy me. Ganun lang ‘yan eh,” he said.
