Facebook has been used as the new venue to spread awareness and information among other people. Last October 6, around 10:00 PM, a Facebook user named Lorraine Bronola posted a status narrating what happened to her daughter in one of the hospitals in Virac, Catanduanes upon giving birth. She introduced herself as Ma. Lorna Borñola, 57-year old, a resident of Barangay San Isidro Village Virac, Catanduanes.

It was stated in the status that her intention is to inform people about the incident that caused her daughter’s death. On the morning of October 1, 2015, she took her daughter to on of the hospitals in their city. Upon arrival, an assistant nurse went after them to gather information and Lorna was instructed to go to admitting section to fill in the necessary documents.

However, when she went back to her daughter, she revealed that a nurse asked her daughter to sign a paper. It was said to be a consent letter. Lorna asked the nurse to see what kind of consent letter her daughter was asked to sign but she was ignored many times and seems like they forgot about it. She was confused and worried when the doctor arrived to check her daughter’s cervix and was told that’s it is still at 3CM. In addition to her confusion, the doctor approached her and said “sisintensyahan nya ang aking anak inicip ko po bakit ganun ang cinasabi ng doctor saakin sinarili kona lng ang sinabi nyang yun saakin,” she explained.

While waiting, another nurse approached them and informed her hat they will take her daughter to the delivery room to prepare her body for a cesarean. Lorna felt confusion again because she wasn’t asked to sign a paper addressing the operation. After several minutes, the baby was brought to delivery room and she was happy about it. She was then waiting for her daughter when she noticed the nurses and doctors were going in and out of the operating room with panic on their faces.

It was 2 AM when the doctor announced the news that her daughter was dead. She immediately went to morgue to see her daughter. She was shocked when she finally saw what happened to her daughter. “doon ko po nakita ang kakilakilabot na ginawa nila sa aking anak sunog po ang buong katawan mula sa mukha hanggang sa likod at paa. At ang kanang kamay namn nya ay may butas at may nakatakip na plastic at lumalabas ang dugo sa mata, tenga, ilong,at bibig magang maga po ang buo nyang katawan,” she wrote.

She asked for Virac Police’ help to investigate the case of her daughter. She even approached the Scene Of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) but was told that it will take 5 years to know the truth in her daughter’s case.

Now, she’s asking for everyone’s attention to help her solve the case of her daughter. As a mother, she claimed that her daughter still visits them. Maybe it is a sign that she needs justice.
