President Benigno Aquino III refuses to take responsibility for the failed Mamasapano operation and, instead, pins the blame on Special Action Force (SAF) Director Getulio Napeñas for the slain 44 SAF members.
When President Rodrigo Duterte called out Aquino for “feeding the soldiers to the lion’s den”, the latter countered that his mistake was trusting Napeñas because he himself was not in authority to command responsibility over the operation.
“The complaints miserably failed to show or even remotely establish how the doctrine of command responsibility may be applicable here,” Aquino reasoned.
He currently has a reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide charged against him for the disastrous consequences of Oplan Exodus due to poor planning and coordination.
However, Aquino kept dodging fingers as he continued to reason that the entire Oplan Exodus “did not need any direct approval” from him as President that time.
Napeñas continues to be the primary suspect for the failed Mamasapano operation after Aquino said that he was given “false, inaccurate, and misleading” reports by the SAF Director.
Paula Defensor Knack counters Aquino’s alibis by recalling that Aquino was the only Commander in Chief who was in the field and giving direct orders during Oplan Exodus. At the point of a potential backfire, Aquino could have aborted the mission.
Instead, the former President waited for the capture of the rebels and have it presented to media, as Knack explained.
In her full post on Facebook, Knack said,
“Flashback, Jan. 2017….. Comments ?
Ito lang ang commander in chief na nasa FIELD mismo at nagbibigay ng orders na hindi tumawag ng reinforcement at hindi rin nagtanong kung meron. HE COULD HAVE CALLED OFF THE ENTIRE OPERATION because he was there with Roxas and the police. Instead, he just watched waiting to announce the capture to media.”
