MANILA, Philippines — The Judicial and Bar Council released Friday the shortlist of nominees to replace Supreme Court Associate Justice Jose Catral Mendoza, who is retiring on August 13.
The shortlist will be submitted to President Rodrigo Duterte, who has 90 days to choose Mendoza’s replacement.
Among the nominees is Marawi-born Court of Appeals Associate Justice Jaapar Dimaampao, who was tied at seven votes with Sandiganbayan Justice Alexander Gesmundo.
The other nominees are Court of Appeals Justices Jose Reyes, Apolinario Bruselas Jr., Ramon Paul Hernandez, Presiding Justice Andres Reyes, Rosmari Carndang and Amy Lazaro-Javier.
The JBC had earlier submitted to Duterte the shortlist of nominees to replace Justice Bienvenido Reyes, who retired Thursday, July 6.
