There have been plenty of stories of Overseas Filipina Workers (OFWs) who’ve had to go through a lot of abuse while working abroad. Not only do these OFWs have to learn to survive in a different culture, some of them are subjected to awful abuse at the hands of their employers.
Naturally, it’s not fair to assume that everything an OFW experiences in another country is hardship – but you have to admit that we hear these heartbreaking stories of OFW abuse too frequently. Thankfully, we have hard-hitting broadcast journalist Raffy Tulfo on the case!
In a video shared by the “Raffy Tulfo in Action” Facebook page, two Filipina OFWs pleaded with Raffy for help with escaping the awful conditions of their overseas job.
The first video clip was taken from the time an OFW, identified as Marilou Ruelo, was threatened by her police officer employer. She was told that she wouldn’t be paid for 2 months and that he could do whatever he wanted to her. Ruelo was so afraid for her well-being that she was unable to eat or sleep because of her employer’s threats.
All Ruelo wanted to do was go home.
Thankfully, the “Action Man” Raffy Tulfo was able to help her get home.
In another video message sent to Raffy Tulfo, an OFW says her contract was for Dammam but she was forced to move to Riyadh instead. The OFW, identified as Rachel Catalbas was forced to work while her agency was supposedly helpless to rectigy her situation.
She revealed that she had to use her own money to commute to her place of employment and she wasn’t paid for an entire month’s work. Catalbas also says that the people there were merciless and cruel.
She too, just wanted to go home.
Raffy Tulfo’s action staff was able to help her arrive home safely.
Raffy Tulfo was able to reunite the two OFWs with their respective families. Truly, the “Action Man” always has a plan!
