In an interview with the radio program dzBB, the former boxing champ expressed his disapproval towards Trillanes’ demeanor during the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing held last Thursday. During the hearing, Trillanes was involved in a heated exchange with Gordon. Pacquiao exclaimed:

“May pagkakamali si Trillanes … yung attitude niya at yung sinabi niya ay unparliamentary, so dapat maareglo ‘yan at maimbestigahan sa Senate ethics committee.”

Due to their dispute, Gordon–who is also the chairman of the said committee–threatened to file an ethics case against Trillanes, who replied that he will welcome it should Gordon decide to push through with the case.

The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing was held to investigate the controversial P6.5 B shipment of drugs from China. During the publicized hearing, tensiona rose as Trillanes questioned the panel’s decision in foregoing to summon several leads.

Moreover, the chairman of the committee was affronted when Trillanes hurled accusations against him, claiming that he turned the panel into a “committee de asbwelto” for failing to summon presidential son and Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte and Mans Carpio, who were both pointed out by a witness.

Trillanes bold statement has earned him a few critics, one of them even President Rodrigo Duterte himself. He called the senator ‘ignorant’ and ‘political ISIS’ for hurling allegations against his family despite lack of concrete evidence.

In a recent article published in Manila Times, author Rolly G. Reyes claimed that the senator has been rude in the past.

“This is the same Trillanes who has been notable for spewing venomous and libelous words against invited resource persons (and even peers) to suit his technique of getting favorable results to his expected answers.”

On the other hand, Pacquiao’s statement has earned mixed reactions from people online. Some of them wholeheartedly agreed with the senator, while some criticized Pacquiao for meddling with both of his colleague’s dispute.
