We cannot deny that a lot of people have not been fully trusting our police force. With all these questionable killings and drug raids, citizens have a lot to fear rather than feel safe. But one policeman in Baguio is trying to convince us that not all of them are bad or violent. There are those who truly live up to the expectation of serving the people and the country.
A family was witness to this policeman’s act of kindness and generosity. They were in town to relax and they were going to visit Burnham Park when their car suddenly broke down. Roan Carreon was the one who posted the story on her Facebook account and said that they noticed smoke coming out of the car’s engine, then the smell of burning rubber wafted in the air.
They decided to park the vehicle in SM Baguio and luckily there was a nearby police officer to ask for help. Toyota workshops were closed because it was a Sunday but fortunately, SPO1 Marcos, the kind policeman, knew of a nearby operating mechanic after being asked.
SPO1 Marcos didn’t hesitate to leave his spot to help the family get to the mechanic. Roan said that he even helped the driver look for parts needed and drove him around with the police car. Marcos even drove the family to Burnham Park so that they could enjoy like they originally planned. When they wanted to give him money but he refused, it goes to show he wanted to help and nothing more.
What can you say about the policeman’s actions? Did you think that he would do all that for a family without even taking a bit of their money? Can you say that this puts a little faith back into our police force? Share your thoughts and reactions in the comments section below!
