Sen. Drilon: Si Jinggoy nga pinayagang mag-party dapat si De Lima allowed na pumunta sa Senado – NewsInfoLearn
If former senator Jinggoy Estrada can get a free pass from the Sandiganbayan to attend a birthday party, then all the more should Senator Leila de Lima be allowed out occasionally to take part in Senate sessions.

Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon on Wednesday (April 26) said he and his colleagues will ask the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 204 to grant De Lima furlough whenever her presence is needed in critical moments at the Senate.
“If former Sen. Jinggoy Estrada was given furlough to attend the 80th birthday of [former] President Estrada and also [former senator] Bong Revilla who was allowed to visit his father, then the same reasoning should allow Senator De Lima to perform her task as a senator,” he said at a news forum in Manila.
“Well not in all cases where she we’ll petition the court to allow her to attend but in certain critical votes in the Senate, for example the death penalty or possibly the postponement of the barangay elections. When there is a need, we will ask the court to allow her to cast her vote,” the Senate leader added.
Despite being detained for drug-related charges, Drilon said De Lima remains a senator and should be allowed to continue with her legislative duties.
“She’s only physically restrained from attending the Senate hearings or sessions because she’s under detention. She’s under the custody of the court and therefore the court can authorize her to attend Senate sessions and cast her vote,” he said.
