While many of tend to romanticize life abroad, being an OFW is never easy. Our loved ones who take it upon themselves to work and give their family better lives endure numerous trials in foreign lands.
It pains us add another story to the already long list of OFWs who have been hurt and abused by the people they work for.
Accue Xii Maris re-posted on her Facebook account the story of Linda Garcia who has sustained painful injuries from the inhumane actions of her employer. Linda hails from Bohol and only wanted a better life for her and her family so she decided to work in Exit 10, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She started working there August of last year and has since then sustained so many injuries.
She has been burned and wounded after being thrown boiling water. Pictures show the blistered skin and red patches that covered Linda’s body. People who have seen her state posted her story and condition on Facebook. They asked if people could help with prayers and financial support as Linda was recovering from her injuries. Her agency and the POLO-OWWA in Riyadh have extended their help to the injured OFW.
It is sad to say that Linda is not the last victim of abusive employers. There are some unfortunate ones who do not even have a chance to speak out about their situations.
Let us not forget to pray for their safety and protection for all of the people who are working abroad.
What can you say about these injuries that Linda received from her employer? Why do you think these abusive employers do this to those that work for them? Is there anything you think that our government could do to help out our OFWs? Share your thoughts, reactions, and opinions in the comments section below!
