A few weeks ago, the name Xander Ford became known to the online world. It was after internet sensation, Marlou Arizala announced that he would be undergoing plastic surgery to change his appearance.
However, many netizens are making fun of him because of what he did. Memes of his transformation have been circulating on social media. Despite this, many were anticipating what Marlou would look like after his nose and jaw enhancement.
Before he came out with his new face, Marlou uploaded a video updating his followers on how he was doing. That time, his face was still swollen and bandaged from surgery.
A few netizens who don’t know who Marlou Arizala is before his new name became viral online have become curious with his past and why he decided to become Xander Ford. To get to know this personality, here’s a look back on how he started.
Marlou Arizala was a former member of the male dance group, Hasht5 which means ‘Have A Successful Honor and Talent. It had five members which, aside from Marlou, consisted of Vincent Binocas, Cee Jhay Ellero, Jhimwell Macanlalay, and Erick Ebreo.
Despite having more than 243,000 likes on Facebook, they were constantly bashed by the local online community. A lot of netizens pointed out their lack of good looks and talent. Some were saying that the group members do not bathe. There are also those who accused them of being “rugby” boys or kids who breathe in solvent to become high.

Among the members, it was Arizala who received the most hate. He was called ‘One Pants Man’ because he repeatedly wore the same pair of trousers in different posts.
Due to the group’s fame, they were featured in several TV shows like “Rated K,” “Gandang Gabi Vice,” “Luv U,” “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal,” and “ASAP.” In 2016, Marlou decided to leave the group and pursue a solo career.
Before he went viral online, Arizala was a church choir member along with his former groupmate, Vincent. He also participated in their community theater group and went to numerous acting workshops. According to the sensation, he had done a few modeling gigs.
At a young age, Marlou became their family’s breadwinner. He was working while he was studying by selling cigarettes. The money he earned was used for his tuition and allowance. In a previous interview with “Tapatan Ni Tunying,” he mentioned that he was persevering to give the needs of his father and pregnant teenage sister. He shared that they used to live in different places because they couldn’t afford to pay the rent.
Ever since, Marlou has expressed his dream of becoming a famous celebrity. His former group’s fame made him realize what he really wants. It also enabled him to have appearances on the Kapamilya teleserye, “Dolce Amore, and sitcom, “Home Sweetie Home.” Aside from that, he also guested in a GMA News TV show, “Day Off.” Arizala also had a cameo in the film “Mang Kepweng Returns.”

Before his cosmetic surgery, Marlou became skin clinic, Flawless’ brand ambassador. They gave him facials to treat his acne which he was most criticized about.
This September, Marlou changed the name of his account into ‘Xander Ford.’ He then posted the status, “MARLOU IS DEAD! I’M XANDER, Marry Me or Follow Me?” It included a photo of a part-skull, part-human face who looked like his former self. The text on the picture said: “Marlou Arizala, May 1997 – Birth September 2017 – Death.”
In an episode of Rated K, the show gave full details of what urged the internet sensation to undergo a drastic change. They also featured clips of the day he had his operation.
“Pangarap ko na yun nga, yung magbago ako. Kasi lahat naman ng tao nagbabago. Gusto ko, ipakita ko sa tao na yung dating Marlou na nilalait nila, kahit laitin nila ngayon, hindi na yun yung ako,” Arizala told Rated K.
The operation lasted for 6 hours. Dr. Samuel Eric Yapjuangco of The Icon Clinic is responsible for his plastic surgery which happened at the Marikina Doctors Hospital and Medical Center.
