Even when Majority Leader Vicente Sotto III said that Senator Antonio Trillanes IV should apologize to have an “honorable way out”, the latter only asserted his opinion of the Senate more.
“Why should I apologize for what I think is true? They may not like the language that I used but it won’t deflect from the fact that what I said was my observation and what I believe was true,” Trillanes said.
He even urged his fellow senators to not be so “maarte” over his statements.
“Mga political figures tayo dito eh. Huwag naman tayo masyadong maarte,” he said.
Despite Trillanes’ stance, a possible ethics investigation may be pursued against him for leaving such remarks about the Senate.
Senator Sonny Angara supported Trillanes’ sentiments about the reactions of their colleagues by telling them that they should just “let it go”.
Additionally, Angara admits feeling no offense about Trillanes’ “puppet” comment but agrees that if an ethics case need be pursued, then it should be.
“Kanya-kanya kaming pananaw dito. We are 23 senators. If he wants to insult his colleagues, that’s up to him, di ba?” Angara said.
As for Senator Nancy Binay, she simply chooses to ignore Trillanes’ remarks.
“Hindi na ko nakikinig kapag siya ang nagsasalita…Parang mas marami pang pwedeng pagtuunan ng panahon at dapat pakinggan,” she said.
