Senator Miriam Santiago’s sister pointed out that it took Vice President Leni Robredo eight months to propose decriminalizing drug use as a solution to the drug problem in the Philippines, a strategy that the Die Hard Fans of MDS Facebook group came up first.

Paula Defensor Knack, Santiago’s sister, said that their Facebook group “discussed harm reduction theory and other options FOR WEEKS after comparing best practices in other countries with the same problem” given that they had policy analysts in the group.

Knack proudly claimed that they were the only Facebook group that presented policy options, and decriminalizing drug use was one of it.

However, they also assessed that decriminalization had its setbacks.

“We found that the drug business will not stop when it is decriminalized. It will be a big source of income for criminal syndicates and they can export from any island in the country,” Knack said.

With more than 7,100 islands in the Philippines, decriminalization “might not work” in the Philippine setting and culture.

Knack lambasted Robredo for having President Rodrigo Duterte impeached as her first option to address the problems in the Philippines.

“Her first option was to remove the head of state ! And WHO will STILL implement the next viable option ? THe head of state unless SHE WANTS TO BE THE HEAD OF STATE. STUPID ! THIS IS NOT DISSENT IN DEMOCRACY ROBREDO, IT IS FINDING A POLICY OPTION THAT WILL WORK,” Knack pointed out.

SOME WHEELS SOMEWHERE GRIND SLOW…. 🙂  🙂  🙂

In Aug 16, 2016, our FB group Die Hard FAns of MDS composed of policy analysts, came up with the first ever Collected Options to the massive drug problem in the country. We discussed harm reduction theory and other options FOR WEEKS after comparing best practices in other countries with the same problem. We were the ONLY group in FB that presented policy options.

But we found that the drug business will not stop when it is decriminalized. It will be a big source of income for criminal syndicates and they can export from any island in the country. Our geography……. 7,100 islands+ makes export of drugs very possible…it becomes a transnational crime then ! Decriminalization might not work in our culture.

It took Robredo 8 months to finally come up with 1 option in our list !

If this is the case, our FB group is far better than the head of VP Robredo. 🙂 🙂  🙂 We figured it out 8 months ago !
