During an episode of the morning talk show, Magandang Buhay, last Tuesday, guest actress-singer Zsa Zsa Padilla wasn’t able to hold back her tears. It was during the segment where the mother and daughter gave touching messages for each other. Zia Quizon, Zsa Zsa’s child with the late comedy king Dolphy, made a surprise appearance on the show.
The young singer congratulated her mother on her upcoming comedy movie, Bes and the Beshies. She quipped, “Don’t cry, don’t cry!” while covering her mom’s eyes. Of course, Zia was grateful for everything that her mother had done for her.
“Thanks for everything. And, I love you,” she said.
When Zsa Zsa’s turn came, there was not a dry eye in the room.
After praising her daughter’s talent, the actress couldn’t help but be emotional when she remembered her dreams for her youngest offspring.
“You are so filled with talent. Napakabait nito. Sana mas makita pa kita sa entablado na kumakanta. I told her one touching moment, sabi ko, ‘You know when you were singing, there’s moment na naalala ko na sinabi ko kay Dolphy, ‘I want our child to look exactly like you.’”
After all, the singer actress knew that her partner wouldn’t live that long. So she wished that their child will somehow remind her of Dolphy.
“Because siyempre ‘yung age difference namin is 36 years, alam ko na mauuna siya sa akin. So sabi ko, ‘Gusto ko kapag nakita ko ‘yung anak natin, makikita kita doon sa anak natin.’ So noong kumakanta siya parang iba ‘yung feeling ko, parang bumukas ang langit, that’s just my expression. Pero naramdaman ko talaga na nandoon siya. Bigla kong sinabi na ‘Lovey (Dolphy), this is what we were talking about so many years ago. Tingnan mo, ito na nangyari na.”
With her voice breaking, Zsa Zsa added, “So I’m so glad that whenever I look at Zia, I see your face.”
By this time, Zia was getting teary-eyed from the wonderful message. Even the hosts were seen dabbing at their eyes from the actress-singer’s statement.
Zsa Zsa Padilla added, “I know that she’s filled with talent because, talagang may pinagmanahan, sa kanya (kay Dolphy), talagang one of a kind. We love him so much and we miss him dearly.”
At this point, the pair hugged each other in a tender moment.
It’s been more than five years since the King of Comedy passed away.
“We just moved on with our lives no matter what but ‘yun talagang naging especial sa buhay natin, nararamdaman ko na he’s always with me ang daming beses talaga. Minsan nga weird and kuwento na ito pero nakikita ko pa talaga ang mukha niya, hindi lang kay Zia pero talagang ginagabayan pa din tayo sa palagay ko.”
